DKB releases apology song to Zainab and Africa
Derick Kobina Boney popularly known as DKB
has released an apology song in a bid to prove to Big Brother Africa
StarGame housemate Zainab and Africa how remorseful he is.
DKB was on Monday, June 4 disqualified from the reality show for slapping Zainab who peeped at him while he was taking a shower.
He,
together with the Serra Leonean, was disqualified on the basis of what
organisers of the 91-day reality show, MNet and Endemol, described as
violence that contravened the rules of the game.
His action
received worldwide condemnation from many who saw it as demeaning,
unethical and affront to the fight against violence against women.
The
comedian issued an unqualified apology to the housemate and the show’s
viewers soon after the incident but his new move to render another
apology through a song, he said, is to prove how serious he is.
The song, Apology released Saturday features female artiste Shee_Rap. Apology
does not only render an apology to Zainab but it also touches on the
need to fight violence against women which has been the central theme of
the incident.
Management of DKB said in a statement,
that “the song, which is an embodiment of DKB’s total and final
apology, is also an initiative to touch on gender violence and its
repercussions and he is hoping it would send out a clear message to all
to avoid any form of violence against either men or women in the
society.”
The statement added that “the comedian intends using
this medium to prove to Ghanaians and Africa at large how remorseful he
is and his take on the issue of violence.”
