New Couple on The Block...Find Out More

Goldie And Prezzo The New Jay-Z And Beyonce

Big Brother Africa love birds Prezzo and Goldie seem to have taken their love a notch higher and are now communicating in lyrics. It all started on Tuesday afternoon when Prezzo quoted a verse from Beyonce and Jay-Z’s collabo, Upgrade You. “Cuz that rock on your finger’s like a tumor, you can’t fit your hand in your new purse/ Its humorous to me they watching and we just yachting,” read Prezzo’s twitter handle @AMB_Prezzo.
A minute after that Goldie tweeted a verse by Beyonce: “You need a real woman in your life; taking care of home and still fly, I can help you build up your account, that’s a good look believe me.” This comes a days after Prezzo dismissed allegations that his Nigerian sweetheart and former housemate Goldie was not talking to him. He termed them “false allegations by people cooking up stories and even quoting me just to get hits on their websites.”

In Memory Of StarGamers

Posted on Aug 30, 2012

Roki leaves the house after the disqualification
In memory of the game and the players, today we are continuing with part two of a brief flash back into the lives of our former StarGamers while still in Biggie’s house. Among the housemates, there were some characters that left a mark on the show.
Having tackled 9 couples yesterday, today we continue with the rest of the housemates.
Sierra Leone’s debut season in the game presented us with two beautiful ladies; Dalphin and Zainab. Zainab in particular will for a long period of time be remembered in the history of Big Brother as an out spoken person, not even the ‘swagged’ up lads in Seydou and DKB would step on her little toes and get away with it. Well, she had the opportunity to be elevated to Upville but was disqualified for reasons will all vividly remember. As for Dalphin, she was evicted on the same night Zainab was upgraded.
Julio and Hilda from Tanzania were the first pair to be evicted after only a week in the house. However, while in the house, Hilda was regarded by many as the ‘mother’ of the house because of her care and personality, Julio on the other hand was a ‘cool’ dude who was social for the time that he was in the house.
Kyle and Jannette from Uganda are the only StarGamers that stayed longer in the house as a couple. Kyle was a finalist while Jannette got evicted a week to the Grand Finale. Kyle was a laid back person and regarded by many as a a disciplined housemate. As for Jannette, she was so much associated with the bottle, she used to drink like a fish, the house also exposed her alter ego – ‘lola fiyas’.
Zambian dames; Talia and Tamara were also very interesting sisters, they had a few altercations among themselves during the show. Talia fell in love with Seydou and later with Keagan, she cried like a baby when Seydou left but found solace in Keagan, she was a finalist.
Maneta and Teclar from Zimbabwe also graced the show and if we are to talk about this pair, am sure we need more time than we have at hand. Well, to cut the long story short, Teclar left the house within a week while Maneta survived the evictions and made it to Upville but was disqualified after contravening the house rules.
Meanwhile, the show also had 7 celebrity housemates from across the continent, these were housed in Upville, they were very interesting personalities and their contribution to the show can’t be over looked.
To begin with, Ghanaian comedian DKB had a few face offs with the ladies but the famous or infamous act was the one he had with Zainab, this particular one led to his disqualification.  However, he has since apologized for his wrong doings.
Model Barbz from South Africa was another celebrity, she was generally a very interesting person, outspoken and tolerant, she had a face off with Prezzo in the early stages of the game. She was evicted a few weeks to the Finals.
Kenyan rapper and now a ONE Campaign Ambassador was a second runner up but prior to that, he had an on again/off again ‘relationship’ in the house with Goldie, he was also a very out spoken person and everyone who watched the show have their own perception of the former housemate.
‘Thunder Thighs’ dancer and singer Mampi was yet another housemate in Upville who was known for her ‘gossip’ with Maneta and energetic dancing, she was evicted after a few weeks into the show.
Hmmmm….Lady May! If you don’t remeber her then you need to check your books well. The pink heeled Namibian singer was a kind of person who would sleep out side on a cold night and speak her mind irrespective of what others think. She was also a finalist.
Roki from Zimbabwe was another celebrity who lived in Upville with 6 others. He was a social and non violent person until Maneta stepped in. He was disqualified together with Maneta after the two contravened Biggie’s house rules.
We are winding up the list with Nigerian emotional songstress Goldie. She was so close to Prezzo although their ‘intimacy’ had a lot of problems, we assume. She was like the ‘mother’ of Upville, she never left the kitchen and always made sure that everything was in place and tidy. She was evicted a few weeks to the Finale. Well, for those who care to know, Prezzo is trying to patch things up as regards his relationship with Goldie, he says he would marry her! Hmmmm…

Which Housemate(s) do you miss the most?

Eve Of Big Brother To Embark On Athletics

Posted on Aug 30,

Claim to Fame:Big Brother Africa contestant
Age: 26
Residence: Cape Town
I started running when I was in primary school. All through my school career I got sport awards. I ran 100 and 200 metres. I ran in high school but then life happened… I got caught up in the party lifestyle so stopped running for a while.
I live in the Cape Town CBD and often run to Camps Bay and back.
On the treadmill I run for 20 minutes at a steady pace and throw in some fast bursts at the end. I love running fast.
I love running with a passion. I would like to achieve something in running. I feel like I’m too old to race in sprint events. Because I’m older I want to run a marathon and run a good time.
When I decide I’m heading out for a run I go for a good hour and forty minutes until I’m satisfied. I run three times a week.
I put my ipod on while running. I just got out of Big Brother so I’m returning to normality. When I’m running I think about my career goals. While running on the road I see myself on a track and in a race.
Fast music moves me. I like dance hall. It gives me that speed I want. But if I feel like I’m slowing down then I listen to something rap-pish like Drake or Rick Ross. If I pick up pace then I listen to something faster.

I was in the Big Brother house for roughly five weeks. The experience was wow! You need a thick skin for that. I have benefited from running in many ways. Socially I made friends, especially in the Botswana athletics team. My health is good. And more importantly I’ve learnt discipline. Running for me is what a punching bag is for boxers. It’s my “get away” from the world. My “me time”. After a long run, I feel like I hit the Lotto twice. Honestly! I feel brand new. I always smile to myself when I complete a distance I never thought I could. I love running.
I’m from Botswana. I would go for training with the national team but I slipped back into my party lifestyle because I was trying to live in two worlds. I was trying to be an athlete and a little diva. I was trying to fit in with all the pretty girls and all the hot girls and wearing the hottest outfits. And then I also wanted to be a tomboy on the field so it just never worked for me.
I don’t like running in the heat of the day. So I head out when it’s cloudy. If it’s cloudy, I run fine.
I graduated in marketing from CPUT and I model part-time. I aspire to be a humanitarian and a motivational speaker.

I recently bought a pair of Vibrams. I was at the Hilton in Johannesburg a week before Big Brother. There was a man from the US on the treadmill next to me. And I kept looking at him, thinking: “Is this man running on socks? What are they?” I think he noticed I was staring. He was like, “Oh, do you like my shoes?” He was like, “they’re called the Vibram FiveFingers, blah, blah, blah” He gave me an address where I could get them. I found them at a store on Kloof Street. And they even have them in black, and black is my favourite colour. I enjoy running in them. I prefer them to my sneakers.
Maygilip plans to run next year’s Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon. The 56!

KYLE Interview

Kyle was one of the six housemates that made it to the Big Brother Africa Star Game finals. With a clothing line under his name, Duncan Kushaba - a son of an Anglican Reverand decides to open up to BigEye.ug about life after Big Brother.

How much did you win for reaching that stage of Big Brother?
It was quite a sum that I am not gonna reveal. You don't want me being magged, do you?

Would you date Jannette?
No. I look at Janette as my little sister. For some reason, I feel this brotherly thing towards her. She is an amazing person and no doubt she would be a perfect fit for my sister.

Did you feel jealous when Keagan won Talia's love considering that you too had a crush on her?
Not at all. What I felt for Talia at first waned so fast and that is why I did not push. I felt we could not connect sexually, the chemistry wasn’t so sensual, really. It was just one of those moments u get when u enter a dry land and later you realize it was just nothing. As for Keagan, he surprised me, I did not even have an idea he was interested in her.

What was your Father's reaction and comments after you came back to Uganda?
He was cool about everything. He is a nice guy, he wants what is best for me like any other parent. Him, being a pastor doesn't mean he has to be indifferent because of whatever I did on the show. Trust me,he is the last guy to be bothered about me. He told me that not even the sky is the limit-The dude believes in me and I believe in me, so whats gonna stop me?

So, where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?
A very big force in the African Music industry with perhaps 5 BET Awards and married with two baby girls. I actually dreamt me presenting 106& Park’So you know whatssup. TV, Music and Fashion is what I am gonna work hard at. I just hope Uganda will accept whatever Uptown and Kyle will be coming through with.

Are you dating? Or should single girls apply?
I am not married. I am a drifter.

If you were to re-do Big Brother once again, what things would you do and not do?

I would not change a thing. If anything developed on the show, then I will treat it the way it comes. I don’t really think about these things, it comes naturally.

How did you come up with the idea of a clothing line, did you get inspiration from Keita's boxers that made him popular?
Not really. I didn't even know Keitta’s boxers were popular on the outside. I just left the house like this and a deal was waiting for me and I could not say NO. I am even not the one who came up with the idea of my name being on every boxer, hoodie, shirt or face cap. May be the guys who were planning this knew about Keitta’s boxers. I am proud of the Kyle brand team.

How much do the cap and boxers go for?
The caps go for 40 thousand, boxers the same, headgears cost thirty thousand . Only the hoodies go for 50k. They are available at Forest Mall, Judith Heard’s boutique. But for special deliveries, you can call +27110519178. We don't go wrong with deliveries.

Any Last words to your fans all over Africa?
I wanna thank everybody who took their time and voted for me while I was on the show. It is so humbling to me and it means the whole world to me. Only God can bless you guys, I cant afford to reward you all. I am gonna be dropping my debut album,my clothing line already launched, so I hope you will love me the same when I come to you personally in form of my music and my clothes. Stay safe.

Well, that was Kyle for you, open, outgoing and a finalist in all aspects. In case you have any questions for him, let us know on this platform. More about Kyle;

Will Goldie Take Prezzo Back?

The love drama between Prezzo and Nigerian songstress Goldie took another turn with Prezzo’s Visit to Nigeria last week.
The two musicians who met at the Big Brother Africa Stargame competition had a tumulus relationship while they were in the house. However things took a nosedive with Prezzo’s open criticism of Goldie after her eviction.
It seems time out of the house changed his perspective as Prezzo embarked to Nigeria with one mission: Goldie.
“I did not come here to promote Prezzo, I came here for a mission…Goldie is why I am here,” he told press in Nigeria.
The One Campaign ambassador affirmed that his emotions for Goldie were real, and not just a game strategy. He went further to express his distress at Goldie’s refusal to pick his calls.
“My hope is that we actually get down and sit eye to eye. She was a very close person to me…It was too good to be true” he added.
When asked what message he would like to convey to Goldie, the rapper pleaded with the Nigerian community to tell Goldie to take his calls.
“Pick up your phone! Pick up your phone! Pick up your Phone!” Prezzo said.
Conceding that Goldie may be bitter about his behaviour in the house, Prezzo apologised saying that he was overly paranoid during the game.
He expressed that he would like to have a chance to get to know her outside the house. The King of Bling went further to express his fondness of the Nigerian contestant. He added that her humility and her caring nature drew him to her.
Prezzo also took the opportunity apologize to the Nigerian Public. The rapper acknowledged that his actions towards Goldie may have offended the nation, as she is a daughter of Nigeria.
“I felt like I owed Nigeria and apology, because it was brought to my attention that my actions in the house had disappointed the people of this great nation,” said Prezzo.

Roki and Maneta (Encounter) on DVD this Week

Roki and Maneta (Encounter), a play by Rooftop Promotions, will start from this week be available on DVD, the producers have said. Daves Guzha, the producer of Rooftop Promotions, said the massively attended play will not go on national tour but rather will be released on DVD for distribution.
“The show has been amazing with good attendance as well as good performances. We have not changed from our earlier decision to show the play for one week. However, those who are not in Harare will have to buy the DVDs which will be released starting from next week,” Guzha said.
In the play urban grooves singer Roki, whose real name is Rockford  Josphats, showed that he is a man of many talents in his stage debut.
Produced and directed by Guzha with the assistance of Marian Kunonga as co-director, the play opened at Theatre in the Park(Harare) to critical acclaim.
However, it was sad that Maneta Mazanhi could not make it on stage due to her busy schedule but Nothando Nobengula put up a brilliant performance.
Other members in the cast include the talented Chipo Bizure and Michael Kudakwashe who feature as adjudicators.
Written by veteran playwright and critic Stephen Chifunyise, the play captured one of Zimbabwe’s most talked about rivalries in the entertainment industry.
The Roki and Maneta enmity in the Big Brother StarGame reality show grabbed headlines and divided the nation as fans of the two Zimbabwean representatives came out guns blazing in support of their favourite housemate.
The subsequent disqualification of the pair from the reality show added fuel to the fire as emotions hit the roof with followers of Big Brother StarGame taking turns to heap blame on the two for their reckless behaviour.
However, this did not only have negative impact on Roki and Maneta, as both became instant celebrities.
Roki and Maneta (Encounter) is a light-hearted production infused with dance, music and a sprinkling of comedy.

If Only Goldie Will Pick My Calls – Prezzo

Prezzo 32, the Kenyan born musician who was the first runner up of the just concluded Big Brother StarGame, apologized to Nigerians for what happened in the game between him (Prezzo) and Goldie.
Addressing journalists recently, the ONE Campaign ambassador, stated that his main mission for coming into the country after the game was to come and explain to Nigerians what happened in the house between him and Goldie and to also apologize to her for everything that happened.
He also answered the question as to whether he has made any attempt to speak with Goldie after the show; he said no. That he has not been able to speak with her because, she does not pick his calls. I always remember what my father used to tell me that I should follow my mind in all my doings that is why I came all the way from Nairobi to Nigeria to reconcile with Goldie and to explain what happened.
The handsome looking young man believes so much in the power of God. Saying that if God says that they will be together, there is nothing anybody can do about it. So he sees his reconciliation with Goldie as what will make way if God is on his plans.
According to him, the whole thing which was supposed to be a game has gone beyond what he expected it to be. Ever since they left the house, he cannot stay a whole day without thinking about Goldie. All just what he wants from her is for her to pick his calls and hear him out and may be they will start from there.
He has no regrets if he was asked to marry Goldie as according to him, the both of them have the same body chemistry, understand themselves so much and he is not getting younger. “I just want to use the media to reach Goldie and tell her to pick my calls that is why I called for a press conference”.
He also cleared the dust rising as a result of his married life. He said that there is no normal married man who will involve himself in the show. That if his marriage was still intact, he might not have involved himself there. He separated with his wife over two years now before he went for the show.
Talking about his real self, he said that there in the house, he was more of paranoid than in reality. For some of his actions there in the house, he said has no regrets for that.
In conclusion, he said that the reason why he was being a bit stubborn in the house was that, Keagan the winner always felt that he was on top. So he wanted to put everybody under him and him Prezzo, is not in for that so he tended to give him tough times there. “Though I lost, I am not a sole loser.” He added.
He therefore pleads to Nigerians to help him speak to Goldie that for him to leave his country to Nigeria, means that he is not pretending.

Men who grow on you

.

Let’s talk about men, not just any men, but men that at first glance you would not necessarily take note of, but given time they grow on you… Be it their charm, their looks or their deeds.
I’m sure there’s an endless list of “grow on you hunks”, but in this instance we’ll focus on five. Don’t forget you are more than welcome to add to the list via our Facebook and Twitter pages or in the comments section below.
We start our countdown with Nollywood actor, Francis Duru. Most of you will remember him from movies that have been showcased here on AfricaMagic such as Nadia, Through the Fire and Always Mine.
To see Francis portray his softer side then I suggest you watch the movie, the Will of God where you will fall for his charm and his strong stance that love never fails.

Correct me if I am wrong but most women like a guy who gives short punchy lines during a conversation and that seems cuddly at the same time…queue Star Gist’s Lawrence Maleka! Star Gist recently celebrated its 50th episode and let’s just say Lawrence did not disappoint as co-host! Having said that we look forward to many more Star Gist episodes!

Our number three spot is occupied by someone most of you will remember for his sometimes wayward behaviour in the BBA StarGame house. He goes by the name of Wati…need I say more? Now what would draw your eye to Malawi’s rep? The fact that he never sought to fight…when he was sober! And he won a Head of House challenge which included endless counting. Yep, he is not numerically challenged, which is an excellent quality.

Big Ballin’ is what our number two hottie has been up to. He goes by the name Timaya! Women like to know that their man can take care of them… and with his recently acquired wheels, musician Timaya can obviously do just that. Take your pick, ladies: either a Bentley GT 500 or a G Wagon Jeep, or both!

Our number one spot goes to someone who some love to hate…but I think more love than hate, and that is BBA finalist Prezzo. We all know about his relationship with Nigerian singer, Goldie, and all the emotion that came with it. So you might ask, why is Prezzo deserving of the number one spot? Simply because he has eaten some humble pie since leaving UpVille. He has apologised to Goldie and has also apologised to Nigerian’s for any offense he might have caused with regards to his treatment of their blonde contender. Club LIV Hosts BBA Eviction Bash

Everything at Lusaka’s Club LIV was on Saturday night professionally thought-out, set and excellently executed, apt for a VIP eviction carnival celebrating new continental luminaries Talia, Tamara and Mampi from the Big Brother Stargame.
Celebrities’ red carpet grand entry… cheers…dinner… burning of decks by highly acclaimed Zambian DJs LBC and K-Smash…performances by multi award winning artistes JK, Ma Afrika, CQ, Petersen and Mampi could all be described as grabbing.
Multichoice public relations manager Marlon Kananda was pleased and said: “This has been one of the most well executed Big Brother eviction parties for our three girls. Club LIV as the venue and the attendance was just excellent; what more can one ask for?”
Brilliant and real it was, yes, but as highly anticipated, the spotlight was on the beautiful Season Seven finalist Talia who without doubt has generated a lot of talking points ever since she got trapped in a tricky love triangle web. She was the star of the night!
As the three girls were called one at a time to take to the stage, it was apparent that majority of the audience was itching for Talia’s turn to take to the lit stage.
Funny enough though, Talia never anticipated the love she received at LIV VIP Night Club going by what has been going on the social media.
“Come what may” in a negative way, Talia would have been thinking. But the sweet positive of her expectation turned out to be the case as fans swarmed around her with others trying their luck to take shots with her.
This somewhat delayed her movement to the stage. The same if not worse being the case when she stepped off the stage. She is overwhelmed with the love and says:
“I did not expect so much love and support from my fans; I am really grateful and happy for all the love and support”.
One issue that had rocked the social media sparking talking points of diverse opinions was Talia’s public apology to Angola’s Seydou for disappointing him.
Did she really have to do that? As many perceive it unwise apologising publicly, Talia does not think so as she says: “I know people are judging me for the mistake I made on the screen but
I feel, it’s morally right to again go public and apologise to the man whom I made a covenant with and broke. We had something going with Seydou but I broke it and I know how it feels. That’s why I said sorry to him not that he should take me back as wrongly insinuated by many but just for my own moral conscience.”

Acting Maneta Required an Extra Effort – Nobengula

Posted on Aug 27, 2012

During her stay in the Big Brother StarGame house, Maneta Mazanhi portrayed a character that many would not want to emulate.
She created enemies among viewers back home and was heavily blamed for her scuffle with Roki that led to their disqualification.
So, when Nothando Nobengula was told she would assume the role of Maneta in a play titled Roki and Maneta (Encounter) that was staged at Theatre in the Park(Harare) last week, she was uncertain how she would go through some of Maneta’s ugly scenes.
The producers of the play arranged a meeting between Maneta and Nobengula so that the latter would have a better view of the shoes she was about to wear.
“I had lunch with Maneta and I was surprised by the differences between the character in Big Brother and the real Maneta,” said Nobengula.
“She openly told me that she had been acting in the house and I was convinced because I saw a down-to-earth person who is open and friendly. Maybe she showed me that character because she wanted to give me a certain impression but she was a good person.”
After going through some clips from Big Brother StarGame and studying the script, Nobengula was ready to treat theatre lovers to some wild scenes as Maneta. Roki plays himself in the play and his combination with Nobengula took audiences back to the Big Brother days.
“I really enjoyed working with Roki. I met him for the first time when we started our rehearsals and I was impressed by the effort he put to practice for his role. He was a bit under pressure because this was his debut in theatre but he did very well. He was committed to execute his role and I feel he was exceptional on stage.”
Despite playing the role of Maneta very well, Nobengula admits it was not easy to fit into Maneta’s shoes.
“Most of the roles I have played in previous theatre productions and even in films involved being a young and nice beautiful girl. I played good girl roles and I felt very comfortable to portray such characters.
Nothando Nobengula
“It took me extra effort to play Maneta. As an actress, I have to fit in all roles but I must admit that the role of Maneta took me off my usual track and it was a bit taxing but I had to do it.”
Nothando Nobengula
“Acting was never part of my childhood dreams. I wanted to be a doctor because my mother was a nurse and she was my role model. I had my first acting role in a drama at primary school but I never took it seriously. I got into serious acting at high school when I somehow found myself in the drama club. That was when it all started.”
Career highlights
Nobengula has featured in a number of local films that include The Zimbabwe I Know, The Long Night, Playing Warriors, Think, Sinners and Zambezi.
She did major roles in theatre productions that include Only Hope that was staged at the Harare International Festival of the Arts last year and Indigenous, Indigenous, Indigenous that was staged at Theatre in the Park early this year.
